Moms and margaritas 9 May 2004 See, I told you I'd write more often. :) This one will be short, I promise. I just wanted to wish all the moms out there (especially mine) a Happy Mother's Day. Mom's rock. It's that simple. On a camp note, we had an awesome Cinco de Mayo party last week. Most everyone stayed in camp, even those people on their days off. We had so much food and tasty margaritas. And of course, what Cinco de Mayo party would be complete without two (or three) rounds of the Macarena. We had dueling cowboys, lots of señoritas, even a German beer girl. I've posted pictures from Cinco de Mayo and other camp stuff on my website. One more quick announcement…we found our first owlets yesterday! I even managed to be the first one to see them, which is pretty cool considering they don't usually show themselves until the end of May which is when I'm usually on break. We had set up the camera and left for one hour. When we returned, my partner was putting another tape in the camera while I was checking out mama owl on the scope and the first thing I saw was a little white fuzzy owlet poking out from under her feathers. Before I could tell my partner what I saw, another one popped up from the other side of the nest. Two owlets! I was so excited; it was difficult to sit still through the next hour while we watched mama owl sleep and try to keep her babies warm under her feathers.
